HTC unveils HTC One M9+ in China

HTC unveils a newer version of its latest flagship device HTC One M9 in China which supports a larger 5.2inch screen, dual cameras at the back and a fingerprint sensor and is dubbed as HTC One M9+. HTC has launched this phone in China and it will not be released in US or any EU market.

HTC made the announcement via an official blogpost today stating that HTC One M9+ will be launched as China exclusive device. The specs of the device includes a 5.2inch display with 2K resolution support, a MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and 20MP double rear cameras which, according to HTC, helps in capturing more detailed photo. The same duo camera is found in the HTC One M8.

HTC One M9+ also has the HTC BoomSound feature with front-facing speakers. Another big feature that sets HTC One M9+ apart from the HTC One M9 is the introduction of a fingerprint sensor. The sensor is placed right in front of the phone to lock and unlock it. According to HTC, the fingerprint sensor is intelligent enough to detect fingerprint from any direction.

HTC is addressing the high-end consumers of China who want more feature-packed smartphone. The HTC One M9 which is now the version available for the rest of the world comes with a 5inch screen, single rear camera and no fingerprint sensor. This shows how HTC is strategically competing with Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphones in the Chinese market.

HTC One M9+ being exclusive for Chinese people only will annoy a lot of people since everyone wants to get more out of their smartphone. But, HTC has done what it thinks is right. China is the world’s largest smartphone market with an estimated 520 million users and addressing the needs of such huge market should come on top of the HTC’s priority list.
