Android One devices to get Android Lollipop 5.0

As we all known that Nexus devices would be the first one to get the latest update and a lot of Nexus devices have already started receiving the Android 5.0 update over the air but what about Android One smartphones that were recently launched by Google with the help of local Indian companies in the market as Google has also promised to update them with the latest version of Android.

Spice Mobility’s CEO, Prashant Bindal who is one of the companies that launched Android One smartphone said that their Android One smartphone will surely get the latest update to Android 5.0 but in the month of January 2015. It is also said that consumer version of Android 5.0 is ready and might ship as soon as this December. All the Android One smartphones have the same specifications and as soon as Google officially launches Android lollipop 5.0 update for Android One all the Android One smartphones would get the update no matter what brands they are from.

If you don’t know what Android One is well it’s a new program from Google whose aim is to provide people with affordable smartphone with quality which runs on vanilla Android also known as stock Android preferred by most Android users. Companies that are chosen to manufacture Android One smartphone are Spice, Micromax, Karbonn, Lava,  Intex and Xolo.

Android One line of smartphone are only available in India for now but it would be good if Google decided to extend this project to further countries as well where people would go for an affordable smartphone running vanilla Android. The smartphone comes with a moderate hardware and should receive a toned down version of Android lollipop 5.0.
