AT&T LG V10 joins the Android Marshmallow crowd, gets its just dessert

The international LG V10 received its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update earlier in March (last month), but, as always, US LG customers are often left waiting weeks out to receive their update to the latest and greatest from Google. Well, the time has come — if you’re an AT&T LG V10 customer, congratulations: you’re now eligible to download Android Marshmallow onto your device.

Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow brings Doze Mode for the AT&T LG V10, which is an in-built battery saver that optimizes apps when your device is idle. This involves delaying notifications, however, so don’t be surprised if you stop getting notifications or buzzing until you launch an app for the first time. This is part of how Doze Mode helps you save on battery life (apps aren’t active until you choose for them to be).

Alongside of Doze Mode, AT&T LG V10 customers will also get Google Now On Tap, which is a pretty cool feature (even if it does sound like an alcoholic beverage). Google Now On Tap is nothing more than “Touch Search,” a way to touch words that you don’t understand and get a definition, or touch an image of a person and get a Google search with information about that famous celebrity you like. It’s far more significant and relevant than using voice command (“Ok, Google”) to find the information you seek. Of course, LG has some new features of its own baked into Android Marshmallow, but you’ll experience all of it when you download the new update.

The AT&T LG V10 Android Marshmallow update is good and ready to go. At the same time, however, keep in mind that it is rolling out to these devices slowly. The rollout just started yesterday, but you may find that it takes a few days to reach your handset. At the very least, you may have a juicy new treat on your LG V10 to enjoy before the weekend’s up.
