Ein genauerer Blick auf den LulzBot Mini 3D-Drucker

People searching for compact 3Dprinters with an open source code should be glad to discover LulzBot Mini from Aleph Objects.

The model is being shown off at CES 2015 – an international high tech trading conference, which this year takes place in Las Vegas. As of today, LulzBot Mini is believed to be one of the most modern, open, and generally available 3D printer models in the market. Given that 3D printing technology is still relatively new, most of the existing models are build on proprietary technologies. LulzBot Mini, however, is an open source piece. Information on parts, prototypes, tech schemes and specs is available through a publicarchive.

So, it is no surprise that the model has already been licensed by Free Software Foundation. Among the advantages of this printer one should note impressive compatibility with a wide range of applications and accessories. By the default, the model runs on Cura LulzBot Edition application. However, you can easily adjust its settings if you would like another app installed. Plus, its open design ensures easy maintenance and trouble free cleaning.

Yet the best news about this printer is that it has ability to self-calibrate itself – which is an extremely important feature during the first start up. Self-calibration obviously makes LulzBot Mini one of the most user-friendly 3D printers. According to Aleph, it also has a great printing speed and high definition of every detail.

Aleph will start supplying these models later this month. The price within US has been setto $1350. So far, there is no information on the pricing in Australia and UK. Yet, if we convert the US price, we will have approximately 1670 Australian dollars and £885. If you would like some more info on this printer, take a look at tech specs, or read the full review.

LulzBot Mini Additional Specifications

Some of the printer materials include Polyester; Polycarbonate; wood, copper and bronze filled filaments; in addition, the printer is equipped with UV and luminescent filaments. It has heated borosilicate glass print surface platform and PEI film cover. Other materials used during the production include nylon, ABS, PVA, HIPS, and PLA. All of this can vouch for a long life and lasting durability of the product.

Yet, even though LulzBot is a mini-printer, it still requires some space. Overall printer dimensions are 17.1×13.4×1.2 in inches (435x340x385 in mm). All in all, it is relatively compact and weight about eight and a half kilos. Maximum printing volume is 3650 cubic cm with a layer thickness from 0.05 to 0.5 mm.

Having considered all of the specs mentioned above, LulzBot Mini is surely worth its cost.
