Android 6.0 Marshmallow wird auf das Moto X Pure Edition für Verizon, Sprint und US Cellular ausgerollt

It’s raining Android Marshmallow, and Motorola is continuing its dance with the new update by bringing Android 6.0 Marshmallow to its 2015 US models. First up in the US is the Moto X Pure Edition (3rd gen.) for carrier models Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular. Motorola representative David Schuster made the announcement five hours ago from his Google+ page:

I have some news with respect to our Android Marshmallow 6.0 upgrades.

This afternoon we have started to fully rollout Android Marshmallow 6.0 on 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (3rd. Gen) with the following carriers; Verizon, Sprint and USC.

Keep in mind that Motorola denied Android 6.0 support for the 2014 Moto X carrier models, but we don’t know why Motorola is bringing support to US carrier-locked models when it denied the same support for last year’s carrier-locked model. Sure, there has been some backlash from Motorola faithful regarding Motorola’s earlier decision to deny Android 6.0 support for all carrier-locked models, so it seems as though Motorola may have backtracked on an earlier statement to bring Android 6.0 to these carrier-locked models. After all, the Moto X 2015 was just announced this year, and it would be a grave tragedy for those with new devices to be denied further support. I’m thinking Motorola did this to continue pleasing its customers without letting them down too much.

Motorola says that it is also preparing to rollout Android 6.0 for the 2015 Moto X Play in Brazil and India and the Moto X Force (known as the Droid Turbo 2 in the US) in Brazil. We don’t know when Motorola will officially release Android 6.0 for these devices, but we’ll be back to let you know when the big moment comes.

If you’re a Verizon, Sprint, or US Cellular customer, head on over to your update settings and — you know what to do.
