Huawei baut Google Pixel Tablet bis Jahresende

We’d heard that Huawei would make the next Nexus, and Huawei even said something along those same lines, but it was easy to assume that this referred to the successor to the Huawei/Google Nexus 6P — which could’ve been a Nexus 6P (2016) smartphone from benchmarks. Well, Google has gone and changed the game in a major way: first, the search engine giant has decided to rebrand its mobile devices from “Nexus” to “Google Pixel,” bringing additional features that make the Android experience far more than “vanilla.” This explains why Verizon intends to rebrand Google’s upcoming mobile devices. Still, though, there’s an additional surprise: Huawei may be making the Google Pixel tablet instead of a Google Pixel phone.

The source of this rumor is the renown leakster @evleaks, a.k.a Evan Blass, who delivered the news a few days ago: “Google’s Huawei-built tablet, with 4GB RAM, on track for release before the end of the year.” All we know from this tweet is that the tablet will be manufactured by Chinese Android OEM Huawei but the software will still belong to Google (which is how the old Nexus-branded devices formerly worked) and that the Google Pixel tablet will have 4GB of RAM. We know little else at this time.

Evan Blass, a reporter for tech site VentureBeat, is usually reliable with his leaks, so we have no reason to doubt him here. Yet, it shows something interesting: whereas HTC was once employed to make a Nexus tablet (the HTC Nexus 9), Google, after using Huawei to make phones, will now use Huawei to make a Google Pixel tablet — and HTC, once maker of the HTC Nexus 9, will now craft the new Google Pixel phones.

We don’t have anything set in stone except the 4GB of RAM, but we’ll find out more as the time progresses.

For now, would you be interested in a Google Pixel tablet crafted by Huawei?
