LG said as much at its official Korean homepage for interested parties. Thanks to Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 7 and its in-built Translate feature, the Note 7 now uses Google Translate to decipher unknown languages. According to what I could gather, the program in question is a Preview Program for Android 7.0 Nougat and that it is open to 2,000 LG G5 users on a “first-come, first-served basis,” Google Translate says. Interested parties can download the LG G5 Android Nougat Preview from Google Play. Apparently, LG U+ and LG Mobile customers seem to be those that the Korean OEM has in mind here, and, as has been said before, the LG G5 Android Nougat preview is for a very, very small amount of customers.
While the LG G5 Android Nougat preview doesn’t and won’t arrive in the US (at least, from what we know), LG’s early access to Nougat before Google officially released it for its Nexus devices shows that LG had access to it before the normal release time of a month or two post-Nexus rollout. This makes sense, though, because LG will announce the V20 on September 6th (and it will come with Nougat pre-installed). However one looks at it though, it appears as though Google is more interested in sharing code with LG and giving HTC the rights to craft the new Nexus devices instead of Samsung. Samsung has proven to be more than Google can handle, and Google doesn’t want to push people further into Samsung’s arms (as if 2016 hasn’t done that already with the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, and the Galaxy Note 7).
Know anyone that has LG G5 Android Nougat privileges in Korea? If so, feel free to have them write in and let us know what they’re seeing and whether or not the upgrade is worth it. We already know the new changes, but how LG will implement them in the G5 is anyone’s guess until the final release. If you don’t have a Galaxy Note 7, you’ll need Google Chrome and Google Translate to decipher the message in the source link below.
