Lumia 1520 zurück bei AT&T mit Windows 10

The Lumia 1520, or, properly named, the Nokia Lumia 1520 (there, I fixed it!), is a device that is now 3 years old and for a while has been off the market. Microsoft has been pushing Windows 10 Mobile (and has faced its own legal trouble for so doing), but the company has done something right with the Lumia 1520: it has given the 1520 something of a resurrection, with the 3-year-old phone receiving the Windows 10 Mobile update. And, in another move that just may make you fall out of your chair, AT&T has now placed this three-year-old Windows Phone model back on the market after having removed it back in April 2015.

After making users and fans believe the 6-inch, 1080p OLED display device with wireless charging and Windows Phone 8.1 OS was headed into obscurity, the US’s largest wireless carrier has brought the Lumia 1520 back from the grave, with the carrier now starting to re-sell the device after having removed it from store shelves. The veteran phone is now selling for $584.99 sans contract or $19.50/$24.38 per month depending on the AT&T installment plan.

Rumors that Microsoft intends to scrap the Lumia line and stop using the Lumia brand name have persisted for some months now, with many saying that the Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950 (both which are under a BOGO deal at the moment) are Microsoft’s last high-end Lumias for all of smartphone history. AT&T’s decision to bring the Lumia 1520 back to its lineup is a welcome one indeed, seeing that the 1520 offers something like wireless charging that is a game-changer in and of itself (only Samsung’s high-end flagships within Android, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, offer in-built wireless charging). The Lumia 1520 is also unique because of its six-inch OLED display, which has no equal on the high-end smartphone market. Samsung’s Galaxy Mega series never made it to flagship status, so in this regard, the Lumia 1520 stands alone.
