Das Galaxy S7 und S7 edge, in Bildern

Samsung took to the stage today at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2016) to unveil the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Both devices feature similar specs such as the quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and Quad HD Super AMOLED displays with 2.560 x 1,440p screen resolution. The Galaxy S7, however, features a 5.1-inch display as opposed to the Galaxy S7 edge’s 5.5-inch display (up from the 5.1-inch display of the Galaxy S6 edge last year), and the Galaxy S7 features a 3,000mAh battery (versus the 2,550mAh battery in the Galaxy S6) while the Galaxy S7 edge features a 3,600mAh battery (as opposed to the S6 edge’s 2.600mAh battery). Both devices also come with IP68 water and dust resistance, with Samsung bringing a capless USB port to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge so that you can now have waterproofing without a cap over the USB port (which could break off and proved to be annoying for most individuals in 2016).

Samsung brought back the microSD card slot to the device, so there was no word about universal flash storage or UFS (we presume it’s gone because of the microSD card storage). The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge come with an Always On Display, which we leaked as one of the upcoming features the Korean giant patented just in time for MWC, but the company added a twist: it is allowing the Always On Display to have some customized theme selection as opposed to the generic Always On Display of a number of smartphone manufacturers.

Last but never least, Samsung did what the Korean giant has always done with devices: the company improved its lowlight performance for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge cameras, with 5MP front cameras, 12MP BRITECELL back cameras with f/1.7 apertures, and the best lowlight photos you’ll see in the mobile sector. To help you further customize your Galaxy S7 and S7 edge with more than just the theme store and customizable Always On Display options, Samsung created a number of cases for its latest-generation smartphones, from sleek and thin protective cases, to even a backpack battery case and two external batteries — one over 10,000mAh, the other over 5,000mAh.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are now available for pre-order, with Samsung set to release these devices on March 11th worldwide. For those who pre-order between now and March 10th, as we’ve mentioned before, they will receive a free Gear VR headset for their device worth $99.

We’ve decided, in honor of this glorious day for Samsung, to prepare something of a photo gallery for those who didn’t witness the event. We hope that, as you go through these photos, you’ll enjoy the event as we did. Let us know whether or not the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have captivated you enough that you’ll buy either or both. You can look through the gallery below before making your decision.
