Yahoo war f\u00fcr die fr\u00fchen Internetnutzer die Eingangst\u00fcr zum Web, und seine Dienste ziehen noch immer monatlich Milliarden von Nutzern an. Viele der bahnbrechenden Unternehmen wie Netscape hatten es schwer, im ersten Dot-Com-Boom zu \u00fcberleben, aber Yahoo hat es geschafft. Leider hat es sein Ende als unabh\u00e4ngiges Unternehmen erreicht, nachdem es \u00fcbernommen von Verizon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Das Gesch\u00e4ft wurde am fr\u00fchen Wochenende abgeschlossen und soeben bekannt gegeben. Verizon wird $4,8 Milliarden zahlen, um das Kerngesch\u00e4ft von Yahoo zu kaufen. Yahoos Verbraucherdienste wie Suche, Finanzen, Nachrichten, Sport, E-Mail, Video und Tumblr werden in AOL integriert, ein von Verizon \u00fcbernommenes Unternehmen<\/a> im vergangenen Jahr f\u00fcr $4,4 Milliarden. Yahoo begann als Verzeichnis-Website, bot aber bald viel mehr Dienste an, darunter Shopping, Suche, E-Mail und Nachrichten. Diese Dienste waren f\u00fcr die Nutzer kostenlos und wurden durch Werbeeinblendungen auf den verschiedenen Seiten unterst\u00fctzt. Das Modell funktionierte lange Zeit, aber schlie\u00dflich entdeckten aufstrebende Unternehmen wie Google und Facebook, dass es ein st\u00e4ndiger Prozess ist, der eine Neuerfindung erfordert, um der Konkurrenz voraus zu sein. Eine Zeit lang lieb\u00e4ugelte Yahoo mit dem Kauf der beiden Unternehmen in ihren Kinderschuhen<\/p>\n

Yahoo befand sich in st\u00e4ndigem Management-Wirrwarr, wobei die Aktion\u00e4re auf eine schnelle L\u00f6sung dr\u00e4ngten, die auch die Option des Verkaufs beinhaltete. Nach dem Verkauf bleiben den Yahoo-Aktion\u00e4ren etwa $41 Mrd. an Alibaba-Aktien sowie Anteile an Yahoo Japan und ein kleines Portfolio an Patenten.<\/p>\n

Marissa Mayer, die Chefin von Yahoo, erkl\u00e4rte, sie wolle bleiben und liebe Yahoo. Es sei ihr wichtig, Yahoo in sein n\u00e4chstes Kapitel zu begleiten. Ihre Aussage wirft die Frage auf, ob die Marke Yahoo Anfang 2017 vollst\u00e4ndig verschwinden k\u00f6nnte, wenn die \u00dcbernahme abgeschlossen ist.
