The new rumor leaked from the social media site Weibo regarding Samsung’s “next next big thing,” the Galaxy Note 6, with some information that seems reliable — with one twist.

First, let’s get the reliable info out of the way. The new rumor says that the Galaxy Note 6 will feature a 5.8-inch, Quad HD display with a 2,560 x 1,440p screen resolution. This is no surprise, considering that the Galaxy Note 5 features a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, so this seems credible. The same rumor also claims that Samsung will go with a 12MP camera with Super O.I.S Plus, which tells us that Samsung’s optical image stabilization (or OIS) technology is about to get a huge boost from the Korean giant. We’ve heard about Samsung’s 12MP BRITECELL camera and even seen a patent filing, and we’re thinking that this new camera is behind the Galaxy Note 6 (what is done to the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge was done to the S6 edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5; this year’s no different).

Now that the reliable information, or believable info, is out of the way, let’s get to the strange information. First, the Galaxy Note 6 is said to be leaving behind the diamond pixel matrix whereby it creates colors through a diamond pattern on its display and will instead opt for an RGB matrix (“RGB” stands for “red, green, and blue,” what many consider to have more accurate color reproduction as opposed to the currently oversaturated colors on the Galaxy Note 5, for example). This would be a first for Samsung, but we’ve seen the Korean giant improve its displays in color reproduction over the years. While this RGB matrix change would be a surprise, it isn’t too far-fetched.

Next, the Galaxy Note 6 is rumored to be arriving this Fall with 6GB of RAM instead of the 4GB of RAM we’ve seen in the Galaxy Note 5. This is interesting indeed, for it tells us that Samsung is looking to boost the RAM in a major way. We believe this boost would be done to do away with the RAM management problems Samsung customers had in the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and S6 Active, for example. Some users had the same RAM management bug in the Galaxy Note 5, leading the company to include more RAM so as to fix the problem. Of course, placing more RAM into the Galaxy Note 6 isn’t necessarily the best idea for the RAM management problem, seeing that the Galaxy S6 series had 3GB of RAM to Apple’s 2GB of RAM in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus — and Apple’s devices still outperform Samsung’s when it comes to the app recall in the task manager. With that said, let’s remember that this is just a rumor for now, so Samsung may not go with this at all. Early rumors tend to exaggerate a number of things to receive attention, and this attention-grabbing goal may be the agenda here.

The report, though provided in Chinese, does hint at two systems-on-a-chip, or SoCs, for the Galaxy Note 6; we know both of those to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor (quad-core) and the Exynos 8890 processor (octa-core), and this seems to be on track with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. This is not surprising if you’ve been following Samsung over the years.

Last but not least, Samsung is sticking with UFS 2.0 in its devices, a sign that the company isn’t yet ready to move to UFS 3.0. We don’t see any mention of a microSD card slot, which is one of the features that’s been heavily rumored to return in the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Whether or not Samsung will bring back the microSD card slot in the Galaxy Note 6 is anyone’s guess. At this point, we’re still waiting to see if the microSD card slot will actually return in the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Although insiders claim the rumored microSD card slot is true, we won’t believe it until Samsung says it (and we advise you to do the same).

Outside of this, we do know that Samsung doesn’t intend to utilize the USB Type-C charging craze and will stick with its micro USB cables, a good sign considering Samsung’s devices charge faster than most in the industry. Whatever Samsung does to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will also be done to the Galaxy Note 6, so pay attention to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge reports and leaks — for they’ll tell you what Samsung’s got in store next.

The Galaxy Note 6 will bring back the favored S Pen, and will also feature the Always On Display found in the upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The Note 6 will also see a bump in battery life, considering that the Galaxy S7 will have a 3,000mAh battery and the Galaxy S7 edge will get a 3,600mAh battery. The Galaxy Note 6 will have above a 3,000mAh battery, but we don’t know if the Korean giant will give the Note 6 the same battery size as that of the S7 edge, or if Samsung will finally give Note users the 4,100mAh battery that was rumored for the Galaxy Note 5 Active late last year.

This is all we have for now, but stay tuned. Once we see the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge and get the official announcement, we’ll put together more puzzle pieces for the Galaxy Note 6.

Quelle

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have yet to launch and are just one week away from their unveil, but a new rumor about the Galaxy Note 6 is already out.
