There has been reports about a new malware by the name of Masque Attack which emulates and replaces the current apps on a user\u2019s iDevice without the user being aware of it making it easy for hackers to get steal their desired data. This new malware has caused a lot of rambling between iOS users and to assure them Apple issued a statement this Thursday that said that iOS has a protection system of its own that prevents malwares like Masque Attacks.<\/p>\n
FireEye a cyber-security company was the one who identified this vulnerability in iOS and said all Apple devices that are running iOS 7 or higher are vulnerable to Masque Attack. What Masque Attack does is that it allows hackers to control an iOS device through messages, web pages and emails which can indirectly fool iOS users into downloading an app that is not a legit app and ends up giving their personal data.<\/p>\n
Apple said that “We designed OS X and iOS with built-in security safeguards to help protect customers and warn them before installing potentially malicious software,” an Apple representative said, adding that the company was not aware of its customer\u2019s actually falling victim to such an attack. “We encourage customers to only download from trusted sources like the App Store and to pay attention to any warnings as they download apps. Enterprise users installing custom apps should install apps from their company’s secure website.”<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not the first time that we have seen someone accuse Apple regarding their security system, whereas Apple has always marketed that their iDevices are more secure than other devices running other operating systems.<\/p>\n
