Eades Appliance Technology Sous Vide Supreme Water Oven 10L Overview
[review]
The Eades Appliance Technology Sous Vide Supreme Water Oven (branded under Breville appliances in Australia) is the latest of Eades’ line of innovative water bath style cookers. It allows for users to cook their food in bulk resulting in faster cooking. This ability to cook in bulk is largely due to the SousVide Supreme’s large capacity water reservoir. Sous Vide’s water oven is available at $429 for the stainless steel 10 liter model.
Specifications
The Sous Vide Supreme water oven has a water capacity of 10 liters or 2.6 gallon, coming in as the middle sized option of 3. A slightly smaller 8.7 liter model called the Demi Water Oven is available at just over $300, as well as an 11 liter model often bundled with a vacuum sealer for $499. It allows for cooking time to reach up to 99 hours and its temperature can be set at temperatures in the range of 30 to 99 degrees Celsius. This allows cooks to prepare various dishes with the various settings and functions of Sous Vide Supreme’s Water Oven cooker.
The build features a very modern and minimal design. Controlled by a press pad, buttons include a power button, a start button, temperature and time setting buttons, as well as plus and minus buttons in order to adjust them. There is also a button that may be used in order to change the unit of measurement from Fahrenheit to Celsius and vice versa. The sleek design of the Water Oven weighs in at only 13 pounds or roughly 6 kilograms.
It does very well in sealing in heat and keeping a steady temperature, even though it does not not have any water flow inside. Similar water cookers often have circulation created by a pump. That is not all this model lacks. It does not come with a vacuum sealer, sold separately by Sous Vide, and also lacks a drain output, which means you have to carry and tip it over a drain to empty it. Not he most practical design for a big cube.
Verdict
For a water cooker, it is efficient. Its exceptional water capacity and ability to keep steady water temperatures for long periods of time matter most for proper cooking results. It also has a wide temperature range that greatly affects how fast the food is cooked as well as how it will eventually turn out. It is also very light, weighing in at only 13 pounds or 5.9 kilograms. A drain would have been most welcomed for ease of use, and most buyers being their first time would also need a vacuum sealer, an extra expense to consider.
