How to enter the recovery mode on Google Nexus 5

Entering the recovery mode on your Android smartphone is an important process that will allow you to complete a varied set of operations. In this guide, you will find out how to enter Recovery Mode on your Google Nexus 5, which will allow you to do different things such as deleting unnecessary files or adding new files to your device. What is a Custom Recovery Mode

A Custom Recovery Mode is a menu on Android device that runs between the ROM and the bootloader. It brings added flexibility to your Android device, allowing you to complete
a variety of tasks. You can flash the device, add new ROMs, perform back-ups, wipe the device contents and more. It is important to keep in mind that in order to use a custom recovery image such as CWM recovery or TWRP on your Google Nexus device, you will need to root the device first. Once you root your Android device, you will be able to customize it to suit your preferences. If your device is not rooted, you can still enter the standard recovery mode.

How to boot recovery on Google Nexus 5 using hardware method

1. Switch the Nexus 5 off

2. Press Volume down and the power button at the same time

3. The boot loader mode will appear. From there, you can select “recovery” to complete the process.

How to enter recovery mode on Nexus 5 with the help of a dedicated tool

1. The first thing that you need to do is to install an app like GooManager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hoangtugio.goomanager. GooManager doesn’t seem to work as well as it used to so you can opt for an alternative like TWRP Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager

These apps allow you to browse, download, flash ROMs or install custom recoveries.

2. Now you need to install recovery from the app. In order to do this, open the app and tap the menu icon on the top right. Select the option Install OpenRecoveryScript and the TWRP will start downloading.

3. Once the Recovery Mode is installed, you will need to perform a complete backup

4. After completing an exhaustive backup, access Reboot your Nexus 5 device into Bootloader mode. You can do that by holding the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons to power the device. When your device is in bootloader mode, you can use the Volume keys to complete the options available on the screen. Now you want to tap the Recovery Mode to enter using the Power button. Then you can enter the Recovery Mode on your Google Nexus 5.
