Faltan semanas para la actualización a Android Nougat de los Nexus 6 y 9

Android Nougat has been announced and released, with Nexus devices such as the Nexus 6P and 5X getting it first because they’re the latest Nexus devices (apart from the upcoming Google Pixel phones that will rebrand the lineup). The LG V20 was the first Android smartphone to receive Android Nougat out of the box, but the Android Nougat Nexus 6 update is still waiting in the wings. Google has confirmed that the soon-to-be two-year-old smartphone will receive Android 7.0, but, as with all old devices, it always boils down to a matter of “when.”

According to the source that has talked with the search engine giant, “we reached out to Google, and it seems like you guys are gonna have to wait for just a few more weeks,” Android Police said. “Google has let us know that the rollout for Nougat on the Nexus 6 and 9 LTE will begin in a few weeks, but there isn’t an exact timetable available to share for those updates. We also still don’t know why the updates are being delayed for so long, but there are probably some bugs Google feels the need to patch before an official release.”

The information from Android Police is reliable, and you can be certain it’s true (they’re reputable throughout all of the Android world), but it does seem suspicious as to why Google is taking so long. There have been issues with update releases in the past, such as the Nexus 7 (2012) 3G model that Google took weeks to update behind the 2012 Nexus 7 WiFi tablet the company made with ASUS as the manufacturer, but that was due to LTE connectivity. It seems interesting that the Android Nougat Nexus 6 is taking so long because the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X have both received updates. The Nexus 9 LTE Android Nougat update delay matches what I’ve experienced with the cellular data 2012 Nexus 7 tablet, so all should be fine with this one.

We don’t know what the issues are at the moment, but we’ll be back to let you know more when information is passed to us. For now, though, sit tight.
