Apple Music would be cheaper if you didn’t live in the United States

With Apple Music rolling out worldwide, we can finally get an understanding of the subscription prices and how the exchange rate to the various currencies plays a roll in the pricing of the service.

Apple Music may cost $10 per month in the United States, but that’s not the case everywhere, and the exchange rate doesn’t match up either. For example, an Apple Music subscription in India equates to around $2 per month, whilst in Brazil, Indonesia, and Thailand, the cost is $5.

In the past, Apple hasn’t tried to compete on price and translated the price of items such as the iPhone like-for-like. However, as they try to pitch Apple Music and obtain adopters as fast as they can, it’s a very clever way of increasing the popularity of the service in emerging countries.

But is it fair?
