Galaxy S7 edge receives FCC certification while revealing its battery size

FCC certification is a big deal here in the US, particularly because all smartphones and mobile gadgets must have FCC certification before companies can sell those products here. Without the proper certification, no product will sell. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge must also bow the knee to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in that regard, just as everyone else and every other gadget must.

The Galaxy S7 edge passed through the FCC recently, but the most unique and refreshing thing about its FCC certification is the battery size listed. In one page of the FCC documentation, we see the model number SM-G935KOR in the FCC ID listing, referring to the Korean Galaxy S7 edge (the “935” is the model number for the edge, the “930” number is part of the model number for the Galaxy S7).

Beneath the FCC certification with the intended model number for the Galaxy S7 edge, we also see the battery capacity at 3,600mAh — which matches with the rumors about the Galaxy S7 edge we’ve heard so far. It’s nice to finally see some hard-core evidence that will put the battery rumor to rest for those hoping the next Galaxy S edge device will have better battery life.

The Galaxy S7 edge is expected to feature the same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor as the Galaxy S7, as well as the 12MP BRITECELL camera with an f/1.7 lens, Samsung’s newest camera that will enhance low-light images more than ever before, a Super AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution (though sporting a 5.5-inch display as opposed to the 5.1-inch display of the Galaxy S7), not to mention the 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage with a microSD card slot for expandable memory. The larger battery for the Galaxy S7 edge will help the device have a better time with endurance, since the dual curved edges of the device do work to consume more of the battery than the regular Galaxy S7 will.
