iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus battery bug attributed to manual time change, time zones adjustment

Apple is not one to openly discuss phone problems or what causes them (it didn’t make any statements about the “bendgate” scandal of the iPhone 6s Plus, either for it or against it, but improved the metal build of the iPhone 6s Plus to prevent the issue’s return), but Cupertino has come forward with an iPhone 6s/iPhone 6s Plus battery bug that is caused by manually changing the time of the device or auto-switching between time zones. Here’s what Apple had to say about the battery bug:

“If your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage doesn’t update…if you change the time on your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus manually or change time zones when traveling, you might notice that the battery percentage doesn’t update. Learn what to do,” with a list of steps posted beneath it.” This is an explicit admission from Apple that the company is aware of the issue. At this time, Apple says that it doesn’t know the source of the iPhone 6s/iPhone 6s Plus battery bug, but that it’s doing all it can to arrive at a permanent solution to the problem (currently, you can only restart your iPhone, which is a temporary fix. If your device is having this problem now, it’ll likely return at some point).

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus battery bug isn’t the only problem Apple’s experienced with iPhones. The company has had to combat faulty camera sensors in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (2014), not to mention the famous Purple Haze controversy surrounding the iPhone 5, the Antennagate problem of the iPhone 4, and the well-known Bendgate scandal surrounding the iPhone 6 Plus, whereby the iPhone could bend in the middle of the phone with little pressure. Apple has recently had problems with the logo on the back of its smartwatches, leading some to attribute yet another scandal, “logogate,” to Apple. Tech journalists tend to name defects or discovered flaws in mobile devices with a “-gate” suffix in honor (or dishonor, rather) of the famous Nixon Watergate scandal.

At any rate, Apple is owning up to a problem, which is a rarity for the company that likes to give the illusion it can do (and does) no wrong. It’s nice to see Apple be human for a change.
