Mozilla comienza a distribuir el teléfono para desarrolladores Mozilla Flame Firefox OS

Mozilla has started shipping its latest Mozilla Flame Firefox OS developer phone to the people who pre ordered it back in May, 2014. The main purpose of the Flame Firefox OS developer phone is obviously to allow developers early access to Firefox OS so that they can being creating appealing applications for the platform.  Many users may also be able to get their hands on it and other people to try out the features before making up their mind and deciding to buy a Firefox OS based smartphone.

Mozilla’s main focus for the Firefox OS is clearly the low-end market as Mozilla is rumored to be working on a $25 phone. With that said, this is not that phone. Flame developer phone that rings in at $170 and clearly isn’t a cheap device, especially considering it runs the unknown Firefox OS. One huge plus is that Mozilla has made it SIM-free in order for people across the world to use it regardless of their carrier.

Flame Firefox OS developer phone has pretty decent specs for a phone under $200. It’s unlocked, has support for GSM+UMTS radio and features a dual core MSM8210 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. On the software side, it runs Firefox OS 1.3. The display of the device is 4.5 inch with a 854 x 480 resolution. Considering the majority of the smartphones in same price range (Moto G for instance) supports 720p display; the Flame Firefox OS developer phone doesn’t seem to do it’s price tag justice in this regard. The phone also feature two cameras – a front facing 2MP camera and a rear 5MP camera with flash and autofocus. Finally, the device also has the regular sensors including A-GPs, proximity sensor/accelerator, FM radio and light. The phone supports GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Mozilla’s blog has a full featured article about the Flame Firefox OS developer phone and how to set it up if you are a developer. For people who just want to try it out, they can also tweak with the device by flashing various Firefox Os images into Flame Firefox OS developer phone. Just go to the Mozilla’s blog and look for the flashing video.
