Yahoo fue la puerta de entrada a la web para los primeros usuarios de Internet y sus servicios siguen atrayendo a miles de millones de usuarios al mes. Muchas de las empresas pioneras, como Netscape, tuvieron dificultades para sobrevivir en el primer boom de las puntocom, pero Yahoo lo consigui\u00f3. Desgraciadamente ha llegado a su fin como empresa independiente, habiendo sido adquirida por Verizon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

El acuerdo se cerr\u00f3 a principios de fin de semana y acaba de anunciarse. Verizon pagar\u00e1 $4.800 millones para comprar el negocio principal de Yahoo. Los servicios de consumo de Yahoo, como b\u00fasqueda, finanzas, noticias, deportes, correo electr\u00f3nico, v\u00eddeo y Tumblr, se integrar\u00e1n en AOL, empresa adquirida por Verizon<\/a> el a\u00f1o pasado por $4.400 millones. La idea es utilizar estos servicios para ofrecer servicios m\u00e1s s\u00f3lidos a los clientes y anunciantes de Verizon.<\/p>\n

Yahoo empez\u00f3 como un sitio web de directorios, pero pronto ofreci\u00f3 muchos m\u00e1s servicios, como compras, b\u00fasquedas, correo electr\u00f3nico y noticias. Estos servicios eran gratuitos para los usuarios y se sustentaban en la publicidad que aparec\u00eda en sus distintas p\u00e1ginas. Marissa Mayer, consejera delegada de Yahoo, ha se\u00f1alado que piensa quedarse y que le encanta Yahoo. Se\u00f1ala que es importante para ella ver a Yahoo en su pr\u00f3ximo cap\u00edtulo. Su declaraci\u00f3n plantea la cuesti\u00f3n de si la marca Yahoo podr\u00eda desaparecer por completo a principios de 2017, cuando se complete la adquisici\u00f3n.
