If you live in the US, you’ve been around long enough to know that phones that are not flagships are not promoted as much by carriers. Verizon is a good example of this: when Sony launched its so-called Xperia Z4 flagship, Verizon said it would carry the device. Sadly, Sony didn’t launch it and then decided to create the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium before the Z4 could come to Verizon. In the end, Verizon cancelled the deal and reneged on the promise to bring the Xperia Z4 to its customer base (why bring it after the Z5 had already been announced?).

But with that said, however, Samsung seems committed to bring its low-end smartphones to customers everywhere, including the US, and AT&T is the lucky carrier that will soon sell the Galaxy J1 (2016). According to a post tweeted by Evan Blass (@evleaks), the “Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016) for AT&T” is soon to be real. The picture leaked shows a white model, with what looks like the Korean giant’s updated TouchWiz UI (so no old TouchWiz here; a good sign), though the specs and features of this smartphone will not impress much: a a 4.5-inch, Super AMOLED display with an 800 x 480p screen resolution, a quad-core Exynos 3475 processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage (though there’s a microSD card slot to expand that). Rounding out the specs for the Galaxy J1 (2016) are a 2MP front camera, 5MP back camera, a 2,050mAh battery, Android Lollipop, and LTE connectivity. The first-generation Galaxy J1 (2015) had a 4.3-inch display with an 800 x 480p screen resolution, a 2MP front camera, 5MP back camera, 5.0,2 Lollipop, and an 1850mAh battery.

The Galaxy J1 (2016) with AT&T will be available in gold, black, and white colors, though a price is yet to be determined. At this point, we’re sure AT&T will issue an official statement when the Galaxy J1 (2016) is ready for primetime.

Fuente

The Galaxy J1 is a phone that you probably haven’t heard much about, considering that it’s not a flagship.
