No stranger to manufacturing security cameras, D-link, a multinational networking equipment manufacturer not typically known for it’s cameras, showcased one of its latest products during CES 2015. What’s great about this product?

Capable to work with a WiFi Smart Plug, a compact and multi-functional device allowing the user to control and monitor home electronic devices as well as with the WiFi Motion Sensor for full home connection, this powerful smart device is available in a bundle for only $190. This makes it comparable to Belkin WeMo. Also, with the use of a Mydlink app and other smart D-link products, you will be able to monitor and create control settings to automate your home.

This wireless IP camera, Monitor HD (DCS-935L), is a great choice for basic home surveillance. The monitor can also be used for viewing video feed, turning the unit on and off, adjusting noise and motion alerts, among others. Other interesting qualities of this product include a compact, simple design, high resolution recording with good IR night mode.

Also, the app allows users to take pictures and monitor videos from anywhere they are. And with mounting arm incorporated with the device, it can be set up easily. It can be wall-mounted with a couple of screws to fix it or can stand on its own.

Lastly, the neat and smart white chassis can complement any home theme as it can blend easily or match any colour.

What is the downside, if any?

One feature it should have, though, is an app supported video recording for more flexibility and convenience. Also, not all the features can be enjoyed via an app but through website interface.

Le verdict

As a whole, D-Link has all the reasons to be proud of this latest addition to their line. For a fair price, HD Wi-Fi Camera is a competent home surveillance camera and is highly recommended to property owners who want added security at home.
