La smartwatch Gear S2 sera disponible chez Verizon, AT&T et T-Mobile le 2 octobre

Samsung’s Gear S2 smartwatch has been announced already earlier this month, but Samsung has said that it won’t be available for purchase until October. Thanks to Best Buy Canada, we know that the US’s northern neighbor will get the coveted smartwatch on October 2nd, with some speculating at the time that the US would see the Gear S2 arrive on the same day.

Thanks to a Samsung Electronics America (SEA) video, we no longer have to wait. According to the source, a new SEA Training Video tells employees that Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile will see the Gear S2 arrive on October 2nd, which should be good news for American customers. Sprint customers, unfortunately, will have to wait (or may never get to see the device), simply because the video says that Sprint will not carry the Gear S2 when it launches – at least not initially. There’s no word currently on whether or not Sprint will ever carry the Gear S2, so Sprint customers may find themselves without Samsung’s latest and greatest this year. It’s hard to see Samsung making any profit from Sprint if Sprint waits until months down the line to carry the product. Technology is ever changing, and most customers won’t desire the Gear S2 if the Gear S3 is coming down the pipeline. Of course, some will see the Gear S2 deals over the next weeks and months and jump on them, but tech enthusiasts won’t.

As for the Gear S2 specs, buyers are looking at grabbing a 1.2-inch, circular Super AMOLED display with a 360 x 360p screen resolution, a 1Ghz, dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, with IP68 water and dust resistance. The Gear S2 will also come in Bluetooth and 3G models, with two Bluetooth models (a sci-fi original model and a classic Bluetooth model) available. The trademark feature with Samsung’s Gear S2 is its rotating bezel that is used to navigate the new Rotary UI that is mandated by the watch’s circular shape. The Gear S2 will cost $349 for the regular model and $399 for the classic Bluetooth model. There’s no word currently on the cost of the cellular model, but it should arrive in the US on November 6th.
