Comment retirer l'eau des haut-parleurs de l'iPhone sans riz

Though newer models of iPhones are created water-resistant, Apple has not mentioned anything about how to get the water out of your iPhone. On the other hand, with Apple Watches there is a water ejection feature that comes with it. However, with iPhone, once you have accidentally drop it into water, you will notice that the water will penetrate your speaker grills which will lead to muffled audio.

Does rice really work?

The most popular method of getting water out from your device is by putting your device in a bag of rice for 24 hours. This method has proven its effectivity as rice absorbs moisture. Unfortunately, the process is long. If you wish for faster and easier way, here are some methods you could do.

But, before we start, take note that most iPhones after iPhone 7 are splash, water and dust resistant. Though this is the case, you will have to keep in mind that water resistance does not mean it is a permanent feature but rather it is a feature that could decrease due to normal wear. Also, this is not covered under warranty as well.

  • iPhone 6 and older – no water resistance
  • iPhone 7 and 7 Plus- IP67
  • iPhone 8 and 8 Plus – IP67
  • iPhone X and XR – IP67
  • iPhone Xs and Xs Max – IP68
  • iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max – IP68
  • iPhone SE 2020 – IP68
  • iPhone 12 Mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max-IP68

IP68 IEC standard 60529 means that your phone could handle a maximum depth of 2 meters for 30 minutes. IP67 on the other hand could handle up to a maximum of 1 meter up to 30 minutes.

There are two iPhones who have IP68 but has different depths water resistance function. The iPhone SE 2020 only has the capability to handle 1 meter for 30 minutes while the iPhone 12 series could handle up to 6 meters for 30 minutes.

Comment ça marche?

All the featured methods in this article use sound frequency which pushes the water molecules out from being trapped between the speaker and the grill of iPhone.

How to get water out of iPhone Speakers?

If you have accidentally dropped your phone in the water, ensure to wipe your device with a clean cloth. However, if you have spilled any other type of liquid like tea, coffee, etc., rinse your phone with fresh cold water. Take in mind, not to use water with high pressure. Wipe your phone with a clean cloth and do not charge your device until your phone is completely dry. There could be some liquid that could be still in your lightning port.

1. With an App

This method could be done manually. All you need to do is use an app to play low frequency sound which would help the trapped water droplets out of your device. Power your iPhone and download Sonic app . Put your iPhone on a flat surface and open the app. Modify the frequency between 100 to 200 Hz. Tap Play button. Once the drops of water come out of the speaker grills, wipe it with a clean cloth. Repeat this several times until you see that there are no water coming out already. The only downside of this method is that the frequency is monotonous and could be not sufficient enough to expel all the water. Hence, we suggest that you also try the other methods mentioned in this article.

2. With Siri Shortcuts

Try to go through shortcut called Water Eject  through your Siri Shortcut . Install the app from your App Store and download Water Eject. Run the Shortcuts app and tap on the shortcut icon. Play a sound frequency. This may not be audible to you but it could do the trick with spitting the water out of your phone. Then, play an audio file to check if your speaker has returned to normal sound.

3. With a Website

Another method which you could try is through https://fixmyspeakers.com. This site could get the water out of your phone by just tapping the big button found on the webpage. This will provide sound sequence. Tap the button again to stop the sound once you are done and the water has left your speaker grills.

Conclusion:

All three methods featured in this article are highly effective and provides different sound frequency. If you have an iPhone 7 or newer model with IP67 rating, you will not have to worry much as they come with water resistance function. However if your phone is iPhone 6 and older, we suggest that you bring your phone to a repair shop.
