iPhone 6s and earlier devices experiencing sleep bug, courtesy of iOS 9

We’ve talked about the iPhone 6s having battery problems dependent upon the A9 processor manufacturer (and which manufacturer is responsible for the A9 chip in your iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus), but we’re now getting news of other problems with the latest iPhone 6s models – and others.

According to tech site MacRumors, users are expressing in the site’s forums that iOS 9 has created a bug where the device simply cuts off, even with sufficient battery life, and in some cases, isn’t coming on when the power button is pressed. The only way to bring the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus back on is to do a soft reboot by pressing the standby/power button and the home button simultaneously for about 10 seconds.

An iPhone 6s user says that the bug not only affected his phone screen but also his battery life (it dropped to 8% all of a sudden), so it seems as though battery life may also be affected as a result of iOS 9.0.1, which is the update he’s on. iOS 9.0.1 is also causing trouble for another user who’s been experiencing the same with his device (though unnamed). Other iOS 9.1 beta 2 users with iPhones 6s and 6s Plus are also experiencing the problem, and some iPhone 6s users are oversleeping because the iOS 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 updates are disabling their wake alarms.

Interestingly, though, it appears as though even iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users are having the same problems with iOS 9. iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2 are meant to be solutions to the bugs of iOS 9, but they may be responsible for additional bugs.

Bugs are common in new updates, which explains why each update will have subsequent updates. At the same time, however, iPhone 6s users can take heart: Galaxy S6, S6 Active, S6 edge, and S6 edge+ users have reported the same problems with the need to restart their devices. It’s likely that rebooting issues are a software problems that new updates can fix, but it’s still an inconvenience.

If you haven’t updated to iOS 9 or iOS 9.0.1 or 9.0.2, you may want to refrain from doing so until these issues are worked out. Something tells me that an iOS 9.0.3 will arrive soon. To find out more about the specifics behind the issues, hit up the link below.
