LED View Covers for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge surface at the FCC

We’ve seen the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and S7 Edge Plus names published by renown leakster @evleaks (known as Evan Blass, who works for VentureBeat), along with water droplets in the background — hinting at water and dust resistance. Today’s leak for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is provided courtesy of tech site Galaxy Club and shows two LED View Covers, one with model number EF-NG935 and the other with model number EF-NG930. The “935” model number matches the “925” number for last year’s Galaxy S6 Edge — making the new “NG935” model number the one for this year’s Galaxy S7 Edge. The EF-NG930 model number matches the “NG920” model number of last year’s model, so this would be the LED View Cover case for the Galaxy S7. Both cases are shown as being certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) here, so these two cases are real, living products at this time. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge already exist, but they aren’t too far behind from being shown in leaked photos (we’ll bring those to you when we get our hands on them).

Keep in mind that these covers are LED View Covers, allowing you to view the time, date, weather, and other notifications when your phone is enclosed within it, so these are accessories for the upcoming phones. We’ve seen the Galaxy S7 Edge Plus surface in the tangible evidence, but we’re not seeing the new phone’s LED View Cover here. We don’t know if or when Samsung will unveil it, but the timing will indicate whether or not Samsung will break with last year’s tradition and announce the Galaxy S7 Edge Plus at the same time as the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, or whether or not Samsung will wait to announce it with the Galaxy Note 6 at the September announcement.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have surfaced in AnTuTu benchmarks, with the two devices shown as having 5.1-inch, Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440p) displays, 4GB of RAM, a 5MP front camera, 12MP back camera, running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The 12MP camera rumor is true, folks: Samsung’s looking to reduce megapixels but bring in better lighting conditions for its photos with an f/1.7 aperture for both front and back cameras. Low-light photos make indeed look better, but we’re sure you’ll miss the incredible zoom-in capabilities of the current 16MP back cameras in the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge Plus, and the Galaxy Note 5.

For now, though, Samsung is getting these models ready for primetime. Are you ready for the Galaxy S7? As the Korean giant says in its promotional material, “Next is Now.”
