Take a screenshot on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5: Two Ways

You can take a screenshot on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 as though you’re taking a screenshot on every other smartphone out there, but not all smartphones take screenshots in the same way. For example, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus take screenshots by pressing the power and home buttons simultaneously, but the Nexus 5, on the other hand, mandates pressing and holding the power button and volume down buttons at the same time. So, with that said, not all screenshots are created equal or performed via an equal process.

When it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5, however, you get your choice of how to take the screenshot: either 1) the traditional way for Samsung or 2) the cool way. I’ll get into what these are below.

First, you can take a screenshot on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 in the traditional way. The traditional way involves pressing buttons to take the screenshot. To do it this way, you need only press the power/standby button and the home button simultaneously. When you do, you’ll see a small photo of the screen appear and then disappear after reaching the top of the screen.

If you’re bored with this method and want to take a screenshot on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 in a new way, then we’ve got it for you: it’s called Palm Swipe to capture.

How to take a screenshot on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 using Palm Swipe to Capture

To take a screenshot on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 using Palm Swipe to Capture, you’ll need to follow these steps:

• First, head into your device settings. While there, you should look under “Motions and Gestures,” at which point you’ll find four motions and gesture features: 1) direct call, 2) smart alert, 3) mute, and 4) palm swipe to capture. Select the “palm swipe to capture,” at which point the toggle will turn on with a green color.

Now that you’ve activated Palm Swipe to Capture, here’s how it works: you then take the side of your hand (the side opposite your thumb), place it on the display, and swipe it from left to right across the screen — at which point, you’ll see a small picture of your screen shoot from the left to the right of the display. Palm Swipe to Capture is another way to take a screenshot on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5.

While you can take a screenshot on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 using the traditional power/home button presses and Palm Swipe to Capture, you can also use these techniques for an array of Samsung smartphones stretching back to the Galaxy Note 2: the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4/S4 Active/S4 Mini, etc., Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S5, and the current 2015 smartphones, which includes even the Galaxy S6 Active and Galaxy S5 Active (or Sport, for Sprint customers).
