Le Note 5 Active résistant à l'eau arrivera chez AT&T en novembre, selon une source

Have you been wanting a Galaxy Note 5 Active? I sure have. I’ve been wanting a Note Active model since getting my hands on the Galaxy Note 3 two years ago. Whenever I think about upgrading to the new Note 5, my one biggest fear is breaking the glass back or front display, or dropping it in water.

Well, AT&T customers won’t have to worry about that. A source says that the long-rumored 4100mAh battery designed for the Galaxy Note 5 that never arrived (the Note 5 features a 3,000mAh battery) is now being planned for the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 Active smartphone.

As the name suggests, the Galaxy Note 5 Active will be an Active version of the new Note 5, but will be designed for those who want water and dust resistance along with some added bulk for device protection. The Gorilla Glass 4 on the front and back of the Note 5 have been shown in drop test videos to be quite fragile, which means that Note 5 users will need to 1) buy an Otterbox case for protection or 2) have a good carrier insurance plan and make good use of it when the Note 5 glass cracks or breaks.

We don’t have a number of details available for the Galaxy Note 5 Active, but we do know that the device will likely boast the same 5.7-inch, Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels (518ppi). Samsung has used LCD screens in the past but went with an AMOLED panel in the Galaxy S6 Active, which is also an AT&T-exclusive phone in the US. You can expect the same 5MP front camera, 16MP back camera, both with f/1.9 camera apertures, and yes, a 4,100mAh battery. The battery will be no problem for this device because, well, it will have some added bulk in its body size, anyway.

Early Note 5 battery tests have already shown that the Note 5 provides an additional 30 minutes of battery life as opposed to last year’s Note 4. The Note 5 is ahead of the industry when it comes to battery life, with only devices such as the Sony Xperia Z3 and Motorola Droid Turbo beating the Galaxy Note 5’s 3,000mAh battery when it comes to battery life (their battery sizes are larger; we wouldn’t expect anything less.). Since the 3,500mAh battery of the Galaxy S6 Active provides a day to a day and a half (36 hours) on a single charge, we expect the Galaxy Note 5 Active battery life to sit somewhere at an easy 36-48 hours, which means 2-day battery life. If the Note 5 is any indication, you can expect Samsung’s homegrown, octa-core Exynos processor with 4 cores running at 2.1Ghz and 4 others running at 1.5Ghz.

Will there be a fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy Note 5 Active? It’s highly unlikely. The Galaxy S6 Active doesn’t have one, and, with the water and dust resistance of the Note 5 Active, I doubt there’ll be one here, too. Samsung said at one point that it wasn’t interested in producing a Note Active model because business professionals want a classy device that has no compromises, but this is an interesting turn of events indeed. Perhaps Samsung has decided this year to give more customers more of the things they want. While we still think the Galaxy Note 5 Active should never come with an AT&T exclusive agreement, it’ll be a stellar device for hardcore Samsung fans and new customers who want Samsung quality in something a lot less fragile. The Note 5 Active will roll onto the market in the week of November 8th, just in time for Black Friday sales.
