Gold OnePlus 3 to arrive in July, co-founder says

The OnePlus 3 is currently available in graphite silver, but OnePlus promised that a gold OnePlus 3 would arrive at some point for the new device. Gold is quickly becoming a favorite color for customers, with Samsung’s own Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge Plus, and Galaxy Note 5 devices featuring it, alongside of this year’s Galaxy S7 and S7 edge from Samsung. Apple has launched gold in its lineup starting with the iPhone 6, and other companies like Huawei (a fellow Chinese competitor of OnePlus) has done the same. The LG G5 also launched in gold this year, so all high-end smartphones on the market are launching with a gold color of some kind (be it normal gold or a gold platinum color like Samsung announced in 2015 for the first time).

With that said, then, it makes sense that OnePlus would launch a gold OnePlus 3 sometime down the line, but the company was too busy announcing its 2016 handset earlier this week to consume its time with discussion of a gold device. And yet, consumers are spending more time on social media engaging readers and followers and fans. Recently, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei was asked about the timing of the gold OnePlus 3 launch, to which Pei responded, “Some time in the latter part of July.” In other words, you can expect the gold version of its latest handset to launch next month.

Regardless of the change in color, the gold OnePlus 3 will still have the same specs: a 5.5-inch, Optic AMOLED display with a 1,920 x 1,080p screen resolution (Full HD), Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor, 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 64GB of storage, an 8MP Sony front camera, Sony 16MP back camera, and a 3,000mAh battery (despite earlier rumors that the company would house a 3,500mAh battery inside the handset). For those who are waiting for the gold OnePlus 3, we recommend you take a look at these three tricks up the handset’s “sleeve.”
