Google brings Nexus 6P to Europe

Google has a market in the US devoted to its Nexus devices and “all things Google,” but reading a number of Android forums on a regular basis will show you that the search engine giant is beloved worldwide — even in Europe. As a result of this, some European residents are now reporting that the Nexus 6P, Google’s latest flagship device, is available in Belgium and France, along with Spain and other core European countries.

Reddit member Clafou submitted a Reddit post 19 hours ago titled “Nexus 6p also available in Belgium,” with Reddit member mephisst0 confirming that the Nexus 6P is also available in France. Reddit member VMX chimed in to say that Spain has received the Nexus 6P as well, so it seems as though the latest in Android has arrived for European customers who’ve been holding out for some time.

Google’s Nexus 6P is the best flagship the company has ever introduced, with many tech reviewers saying that the Nexus 6P finally gives Google the image it should’ve had years ago. The camera is said to be better than before (even better than the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus), the design is aluminum, the device has a fingerprint sensor (Nexus Imprint), a two-year accident protection plan available (Nexus Protect) for those who want it, alongside of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 (octa-core processor). While Google charges US buyers only $499 for the 32GB model, Google is charging Europeans the following prices: 649 euro (32GB), 699 euro (64GB), and 799 euro (128GB). The 128GB model is said to not be available for European customers at this time, but even the 32GB model in Europe is $690 — which is $190 more than US customers pay for the same device. Apparently, Google doesn’t want to play as nicely with European customers as it does US customers.

Google has something of an image problem, outside of the Nexus 6P, with regard to Google Play Store promotionals. Last December, Google’s Christmas deal involved getting the entire Frozen soundtrack album as a free download from Google Play (only for US customers). Google has had tons of albums and music available within the last few weeks, but only US customers could take advantage of free downloads, however. The latest shows Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album on sale, but again, it’s only for US customers. For whatever reason, Google has a bias toward US customers, giving them more affordable devices while European customers pay a pretty penny to buy Google’s Nexus 6P along with the Nexus 6, Nexus 5, and other former devices.
