How to Fix Valorant Error Code VAL 5

Valorant is a game which a lot of gamers love. However, unfortunately, many also have reported of experiencing errors particularly the error code VAL 5. VAL 5 error code is a connection error which could happen whenever Valorant’s servers are down due to maintenance or there is a surge of players which could cause for its servers to overload. Check Valorant Server Status

  • Go to your web browser
  • Go to Riot Games Service Status website
  • Select Valorant
  • Select your region
  • Check if there are any issues with Valorant services

Run Valorant as an Administrator

  • Right click on your Valorant desktop shortcut
  • Click on properties
  • Select compatibility tab
  • Check the run this program as an administrator box
  • Click Apply
  • Click Ok

Repair the Valorant Installation

  • Open Valorant
  • Click on your profile icon
  • Select settings
  • On the Valorant section, click repair

Reset TCP/IP Settings and Flush DNS Cache

  • Press Windows + R keys
  • On the run dialog box, type CMD
  • Press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
  • Type in the command netsh winsock reset
  • Type netsh int ip reset
  • Then type ipconfig/release
  • Type ipconfig/renew
  • ipconfig/flushdns
  • Close your command prompt
  • Restart your PC

Reinstall Riot Vanguard

  • Right click start
  • Click apps and features
  • Go to the app list
  • Locate Riot Vanguard
  • Click on the three dots
  • Click uninstall
  • Click again uninstall
  • Click Yes
  • Launch Valorant and riot vanguard

Change the VGC Startup Type to Automatic

  • Press Windows+R
  • Type services.msc
  • Click ok
  • Right click VGV service
  • Select Properties
  • Open Startup type drop down menu
  • Select Automatic
  • Click Start
  • Click Apply
  • Click Ok
  • Restart your PC
  • Launch Valorant

If you get an error stating “Windows could not start the vgc service on Local Computer Error 1 Incorrect Function, follow the steps below

  • Right click on Start
  • Select Apps and Features
  • Search for Riot Vanguard
  • Click uninstall
  • Click again uninstall
  • Click yes
  • Press Windows + R
  • Type CMD
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter
  • type in bcdedit – set TESTSIGNING OFF
  • Disable secure boot
  • Run the Valorant launcher
  • Restart PC
  • Press Windows + R
  • Type service.msg
  • Click Ok
  • Right click VGC
  • Select Properties
  • Open Startup type drop down menu
  • Select Automatic
  • Click Start
  • Click Apply
  • Click Ok
