Huawei Nexus shown in new video leak

Google is soon to unveil its new Nexus devices (that’s right, plural) in the coming weeks, and, as sure as the phones will arrive, you can expect spec and video leaks to crawl out of the woodwork. The latest video is all about showing off what many believe to be the upcoming Huawei Nexus.

The showoff video comes from @onleaks (a.k.a Steve Hemmerstoffer) and gives us some design language from both Google and Huawei, Google’s latest Nexus partner. The camera for the leaked Huawei Nexus appears to mimic that of LG’s Nexus 5 from 2013, and the fingerprint scanner mimics Huawei’s own fingerprint scanner that can be seen on the Huawei Ascend Mate 8. The back of the device features a matte plastic that will prove all too familiar for LG Nexus 5 users. LG’s Nexus 5 provided a premium-feeling plastic that we’d love to see again in a Nexus refresh this year.

Rumors about the Huawei Nexus include a quad-core (not octa-core) Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, a 5.7-inch, Quad HD display with a 2,560 x 1,440p screen resolution, a fingerprint scanner in light of Google’s upcoming Android M update that brings native fingerprint support to all of Android, and more. Android M will be aboard, and Google has taken great measures to ensure that the name of its upcoming Android update has yet to leak from the Mountain View, California company.

Huawei is earning its reputation globally, having replaced Microsoft as the third-top global vendor, with 30.6 million smartphones sold in Q2 2015. Huawei had a 49% growth from Q2 2014 and may be Google’s mediator in Chinese-American relations for the future. Aside from the Huawei Nexus, sources also state that LG may indeed produce the second Nexus device that looks to arrive at the same time as the Huawei Nexus.
