Lumia 950 XL deal gets you free Lumia 950

The Microsoft Lumia 950 XL is a device that hasn’t gotten much attention since it was released. Microsoft decided to make the device exclusive to the Microsoft Store, with the Lumia 950 getting more attention than the better device of the two. Well, it appears as though the Lumia 950 XL hasn’t sold as intended for Microsoft (who bought the Nokia Lumia name), so the company is now doing all it can to push consumers to buy up the remaining Lumia 950 XL and 950 units by giving a free one through the promotion.

For a limited time, you can get a free Lumia 950 when you purchase the Lumia 950 XL. The price of the 950 XL is $649, but you’re getting a free $549 value with the free 950. Of course, the 950 XL is a superior phone to the 950, with the Lumia 950 XL having a wider display (5.7 vs. 5.2 inches), differing processor (the Lumia 950 XL has an octa-core Snapdragon 810 while the 950 has a hexa-core Snapdragon 808), and a slightly larger battery for the 950 XL as opposed to the regular 950 (3,340mAh vs. 3,000mAh). Both the Lumia 950 XL and the 950 have wireless charging though, so Microsoft’s latest phones could prove to be something of a Samsung alternative for those who want to try Windows Phone but don’t want to give up their wireless charging convenience.

Both the Lumia 950 XL and 950 come with Quad HD AMOLED displays (1440p resolution), which are a hallmark of panel perfection on smartphones, and both feature 200GB microSD card slot capacities that let you expand your storage. The 950 XL features a 5MP front camera (and f/2.4 camera aperture) and a 20MP back camera (with f/1.9 camera aperture) with Carl Zeiss optics. With that said, the f/1.9 aperture is still in the running with some of the best phones on the market (such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with its f/1.9 aperture).

While the Lumia name is soon to be retired, we’re told, you can always pick up two of the last great phones of Nokia’s former mobile series that dominated the smartphone landscape for the Finnish manufacturer.
