Microsoft no longer offering free support for Windows 7

As of today, Microsoft will no longer provide free help and support for Windows 7. If any user has a problem or an issue with their Windows 7, he/she have to pay for the customer support from now on.

Windows 7, which was released in 2009, sold over 100 million copies in first six months of its release. The popularity was due to the impressive design and architecture of Windows 7 that not only covered the flaws of the previous version of Windows (Vista) but also introduced a lot of cool features that attracted a lot of attention at that time.

Windows 7 still remains the most used Windows version to date. According to some sources, the reason why Windows 7 is still the most popular Windows even after 5 years is because it’s more stable and less prone to malicious attacks. Windows 8 design, which is the latest Windows version, was also based on Windows 7.

Ending the support means that Microsoft is now starting to push the users onto Windows 8 or maybe to its upcoming Windows 10 later this year. Mainstream support for Windows 7 is now gone but extended support is available for anyone but of course this means that users have to pay for help.

According to Microsoft, the extended support for Windows 7 will end in 2020 but users don’t have to worry about security updates as Microsoft has verified that it will continue to patch security issues in Windows 7.
