Samsung finally reveals the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge at MWC 2015

After countless leaks and teasers, Samsung has finally announced their new flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. Samsung has finally moved on from plastic to a metal design, which is suitable for a premium flagship smartphone.

After experimenting with the Galaxy Alpha, Samsung has finally realized that metal design is the way to go. Samsung has done a complete reboot and the Galaxy S6 series is a totally different from the previous series. Both smartphones features an aluminum body with glass on back and front. The drawback of this premium design is that both the smartphones lack a removable back cover and a SD card slot.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are almost similar in design with some distinct features. The Galaxy S6 has a flat display, while the Galaxy S6 Edge features a curved display. The curved display of S6 Edge is similar to the one used in Galaxy Note Edge, but it is curved on both sides of the phone. The curved display of Galaxy S6 Edge makes it a much more interesting looking smartphone of the pair.

The Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch Super-AMOLED, Quad HD display with an amazing pixel density of 577 pixel-per-inch. While, the Galaxy S6 Edge features a dual-curved 5.1-inch Super-AMOLED display with Quad HD resolution. Both smartphones come equipped with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and the Home key also works as a fingerprint sensor.

Samsung chose not to use the Snapdragon 810 chip, instead both smartphones are equipped with Exynos 7420 chip. The Exynos 7420 offers similar performance to Snapdragon 810, but produces less heat and is more energy efficient. Both the devices comes equipped with 3GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge feature a 16MP camera on the back and a 5MP camera on the front for video calls and selfies. Initially, both the smartphones will be launched on 10th April, 2015 in 20 markets and there is no official word about the price of both devices.
