What I’m trying to say is I hate fighting games. Well I don’t hate playing them, I hate losing. Nobody likes being pinned against a wall as your opponent wails on you with the same attack over and over again. The only way you can enjoy a fighting game is if you played the game long enough, even while hating it, to become good at it. Fighting games aren’t something you can just pick up; it takes a lot of god damn work. That’s why I don’t like fighting games, if I can\u2019t enjoy it without working really hard to be better, than what\u2019s the point in playing. This however is a curse for solo players, and people who play online. Nothing beats playing with people just as awful as you, right there on the couch. This assumes you have friends, unlike me. All the loners can join me on the hate train.<\/p>\n

I’m sure everyone is aware of the brand new Killer Instinct on Xbox One. It it\u2019s the return of a beloved franchise, but before you start pulling off ultra-combos, go refresh your skills in a truly amazing game that I have been banned from playing among my friends with. You see I’m not that good, and when I get angry things get broken, much like your opponents entire body, in this energetic fighter.<\/p>\n

Most reviews of this game would say how amazing it was beating their siblings, over and over again, with lots of new powers and settings. Since I was on the receiving end of that, I\u2019ll say that I can\u2019t stand playing this game, losing over and over again. If you live to bring me misery, then by all means this is the game for you. It\u2019s fast and electric, all in all a fun fighter.<\/p>\n

Now this is a game I can play. Mortal Kombat 2 was a much friendlier fighter to people like me. With abilities that were not too complicated, and enough blood and gore to keep us interested. This time I can say, I dominated anyone who played me in Mortal Kombat 2. Nothing will make you feel like more of a bad ass then turning into a dragon and biting your opponent in half.<\/p>\n

Sorry this isn’t beach volley ball, and unfortunately the third entry in the franchise was missing the now infamous boobs physics that Dead or Alive is known for. Despite this, it was a damn good fighting game that was just fun to play. By that I mean it was slightly less frustrating than most fighters.<\/p>\n

Finally a game for filthy casuals like myself. I struggled to decide which smash game to put on the list. My personally favourite is Super Smash Bros 64. Eventually I decided that looking at the game without bias Super Smash Wii U was the obvious choice. It has more characters, more maps, and more items. It basically just improves on the same concept, and unlike a certain FPS game, it is still fun to play.<\/p>\n

<\/h2>\nFor me it was either the original Soul Caliber or Soul Caliber 4, for the number 5 spot. I realized that the Original had a distinct lack of Darth Vader, after that the choice was easy. Soul Caliber has always been a well-designed, fun to play, and easy to pick up fighting game. There not much else to say other than, DARTH VADER OMG, AND YODA TOO HOLY.<\/p>\n

Most people will agree this is the best game in the Tekken franchise. That is unless you’re stupid. I remember there was a Tekken 3 machine at the nearest movie theater to my house. The theater featured 3 whole arcade games. Everyone used the Tekken machine, so it was not hard to find a partner. Surprisingly, I didn’t always lose, which is probably why I look back at this game with fond memories.<\/p>\n

Every game in this franchise is a masterpiece, but Marvel Vs Capcom 3 takes the cake. Its hyper speed action fighting, with 3 combatants on each side. Damn does this game go fast, on your first few plays you\u2019ll have trouble keeping up with this one. Of course its best played with friends, so make sure you have at least one friend, and if you don’t, maybe you should stop playing games and go get some friends.<\/p>\n

Otherwise known as Mortal Kombat 9, this game was a return to glory for the Mortal Kombat franchise. After some rough entries to the series in the 3D fighter genre, Nether Realm returned the game to its 2D roots, and delivered a stunning game. The change proved to be the right choice, as fans were ecstatic about the game. It brought back fatalities in all of their gory brilliance of course. Coupled with the simple gameplay mechanics that a guy like me can understand, and you have a great game.<\/p>\n

Ask anyone, this is the best Fighting game to date. It irrefutably brought competitive fighting into the mainstream esports eye, and continues to be a catalyst for competitive fighters. You can see its influence in many games coming out recently, and why not? It\u2019s a great game, fast paced, easy to learn, hard to master.
