You may have just laid eyes on the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5, but it\u2019s been five months in the tech world \u2014 which means that the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are nearly a year old now. No need to worry about the next wave of tech, as Korean giant Samsung Electronics is planning to push full speed ahead in 2016 with its newest smartphones for the year. A post from Reddit member mobileleaks<\/em> features the specs that he\u2019s confirmed for the Galaxy S7 Edge. They are as follows:<\/p>\n

\u2022 5.7-inch display with a Quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440p
\n\u2022 Full metal body
\n\u2022 32GB with no expandable storage via microSD
\n\u2022 quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor
\n\u2022 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM
\n\u2022 12MP back camera with Samsung\u2019s own Britecell sensor
\n\u2022 5MP front selfie camera
\n\u2022 micro USB cable (no USB Type-C charging)
\n\u2022 two pressure sensors (one could be similar to Apple\u2019s Force Touch)
\n\u2022 fingerprint sensor
\n\u2022 TouchWiz running Android 6.0 Marshmallow<\/p>\n

Samsung\u2019s next \u201cgalaxies\u201d are no stranger to tech enthusiasts, who hear and read their share of rumors about them, but it seems as though this latest spec sheet eliminates some earlier rumors we\u2019d heard about the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. First, it was said that Samsung would push forward with USB Type-C charging, which allows you to use either cable end to connect your phone to your charger or laptop PC port for data transfer or charging. This list says that Samsung will stick with micro-USB charging, which has the benefit of allowing you to use current cables to charge up your Galaxy S7\/S7 Edge \u2014 even if your device USB cables break or become unusable.<\/p>\n

Some may see the 12MP camera as a typo, but it isn\u2019t; a recent patent filing shows Samsung has decided to proceed with its Britecell camera technology that\u2019s said to be even better than the ISOCELL camera sensor it used in the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4. Samsung also used Sony camera sensors in the Galaxy Note 4 alongside of its own ISOCELL sensors, and Samsung may very well do the same thing in its 2016 models.<\/p>\n

As for expandable storage, we\u2019re hearing that Samsung doesn\u2019t intend to bring that back to the Galaxy S7\/S7 Edge, either, so Galaxy Note 4 advocates won\u2019t have their wish fulfilled this year, either. The reason why Samsung wouldn\u2019t use expandable storage via microSD in the Galaxy S7 is simple: UFS 2.0 is the fastest storage ever on a mobile device, and microSD cards only slow down the read\/write performance when it comes to content (data). Some said that Samsung had found a way to let microSD cards and UFS 2.0 co-exist, but it seems to impossible from a tech standpoint for that to be the case.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Samsung will announce the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, as well as the Galaxy S7 Edge+ this year, with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge announced at Mobile World Congress 2016. Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge at Mobile World Congress 2015 on March 1st, and the Korean giant doesn\u2019t look to buck that trend this year.
