Verizon Galaxy S7 or S7 edge pre-order brings free Gear VR or free Gear S2

We’ve announced the leak about a free Gear VR with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, but Verizon is shaking things up even further. For those who’d rather not get a free Gear VR but have been eyeing one of Samsung’s Gear S2 smartwatches, you’re in luck: you can now choose between Samsung’s smartwatch and Samsung’s Gear VR to take advantage of Verizon’s free offer. There is one exception to this offer, however: you have to pre-order the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge between now and March 18, 2016, according to Verizon. You also must order your new device online and do so with an installment plan (no two-year contracts here). These last two have become rather commonplace with Verizon’s deals, though we’ll keep our ears to the ground to see if there are any in-store deals.

For those who’re dying to take advantage of this offer, we’ll give you some rundown specs and features for these devices. The Galaxy S7 comes with a 5.1-inch, Quad HD display with a 2,560 x 1,440p screen resolution, the quad-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB of storage (only; no 64GB or 128GB), 5MP front camera with an f/1.7 aperture, and a 12MP back camera with an f/1.7 aperture. The Galaxy S7 edge features a 5.5-inch, Quad HD display with the same processor, memory, RAM, and cameras, but also features dual curved screen edges as opposed to the non-curved Galaxy S7. Both the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge feature IP68 water and dust resistance so that you can dunk your smartphone into 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.

Samsung’s official pre-order period ends March 11th, when the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will go worldwide for the mass consumer market, but Verizon will give you an additional week to provide the details necessary to take advantage of your free Gear VR headset or your free Gear S2 smartwatch.
