Why Do AirPods Sound Echoey?

A lot of users love their AirPod or AirPods pro. They use them in their everyday lives. However, there are some users who experience echo sounds while they are listening to their favorite music or podcast. If you are one of those who experience this, do not worry as through this article, we shall provide you useful information about this issue.

One of the reasons as to why you are encountering and experiencing echo sounds on your AirPods is that your AirPods could be dirty or it could be damaged. It could also be that your connection is poor.

It could also be that you have your iPhone set to Live Listen setting turned on. It could also be that your microphone grill is dirty or that you have a poor connection on your device.

Problem with the Device You Are Using

If you are experiencing echo on your AirPods, it could be possible that your device which the AirPods is connected to has the problem. Hence, to identify this, try to connect your AirPods to a different device and check if the problem is still there.

If the problem still persist, then it could mean that your AirPods has a problem. If not, it could mean that the problem could be with your device.

Dirty AirPods

This means that your AirPods speaker grill is dirty. To solve this, we recommend that you try to use a cotton swab and clean the speaker grill. You could also suck on the speak grill to dislodge the dirt.

Poor Connection

To solve this issue, follow the steps below:

Reset and Reconnect your AirPods

  • Forget the AirPods on the device or phone that you are using
  • Ensure that your AirPods are inside its case
  • Press the button until the light flashes orange and then white
  • Wait for about 30 seconds
  • Open the lid
  • Hold the button on the case
  • Reconnect your AirPods to your device

Needs Updating

It could also be that your AirPods needs to be updated. To do this, ensure that the AirPods are inside the case while the case is charging. Put a connected Apple device near to the case.

Problem with the Mic

  • Go to settings
  • Select Bluetooth
  • Click i near your AirPods
  • Select microphone
  • Change the option from Always left or Always right

Switch Mic to Internal Mic

If you hear echo when you are doing FaceTime, this could be that your AirPod’s mic is enabled on FaceTime which could lead to worse sound quality. For you to be able to fix this, you will have to switch the internal mic on your device – iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Water Damage

Another reason could be that your AirPods got wet recently.

Broken
