Reset Your Password

This means, your account has been compromised which is why it is highly recommended for you to reset your password. To do this, you must follow the steps provided below.

  • Go to Google’s Account Recovery page
  • Enter your email address or phone number
  • Click next
  • Select an option either getting a verification code on your second email address or on your phone number.
  • Alternatively, you could also generate a set of emergency backup codes which you could use.
  • Check your email or phone for the code
  • Type the code on your recovery page
  • Enter a new password or if you wish you could have Google Chrome generate you one.

Clear Your Cache and Cookies

When you go to YouTube, it leaves the data behind on your computer and this data is called cookies. Moreover your cache would store image files from the site. Unfortunately, there are times when these files get corrupted which could lead to YouTube to log you out. Do not worry as all you have to do is to clear your cache and cookies.

  • Go to your Chrome window

  • Click clear browsing data

  • See all cookies and site data
  • Click Remove all

Xbox One and Series X/S

  • Press the center button on your controller
  • Select All settings
  • Select settings
  • Go to the system tab
  • Select console info and updates
  • Select option to reset console
  • Select reset and keep my games and apps
  • Your system will reboot
  • Once it launches, log into YouTube

Disable Your VPN

  • Click the upward pointing arrow near the right end of your taskbar
  • Locate your VPN software
  • Right click on it
  • Select Exit
  • Click on Quit

Disable Browser Extensions

If you have tried everything and nothing worked, you might have to check your browser extensions and you might have to disable them.

  • Click site settings
  • Go to Javascript and click it
  • Select sites can use Javascript

Microsoft Edge

  • Type edge://settings
  • Press Enter
  • Click cookies and site permissions
  • Select Javascript under all permissions
  • Select Ask before sending
  • Go back to YouTube
  • Log in and check if everything is okay

Update the YouTube App

Android Devices

  • Open your phone’s app menu
  • Launch the Play Store
  • Go to profile picture
  • Select My Apps and Games
  • Go to YouTube
  • Click Update

iOS devices

  • Launch the app store
  • Tap your profile picture
  • Go to the list of pending updates
  • Tap on the Update button

Xbox consoles

  • Press the center button
  • Select my games and apps
  • Go to YouTube
  • Click menu button
  • Select Uninstall
  • Confirm uninstall
  • Reinstall the app
  • Log into YouTube
