Google has announced its Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X devices, along with some neat changes in Android Marshmallow, and it seems that Android manufacturers are already publishing their own lists of update-eligible devices for Google’s latest OS. While HTC has not published its list, leakster @LlabTooFeR has decided to put the rumored list out there.
LlabTooFeR posted some days ago at Twitter a list of HTC devices that will receive Android Marshmallow: “List of devices that get Android M+ Sense 7: Desire EYE, 816, 820, 826, HTC One M8, M8s, M8 EYE, E8, HTC One M9, M9+, ME, E9, E9+, Butterfly 2,3,” with the model names and numbers referring to the most recent HTC smartphones to arrive on the market. Since HTC is a manufacturer within Android, the company also releases its own overlay, called Sense, with each new major Android update. In this case, HTC will release Sense 7.0 for Android Marshmallow-eligible devices.
HTC has made promises in the past about its devices receiving the latest from Google within 90 days, only to miss the release date by a week or more, and HTC has yet to actually confirm, deny, or revise this list publicly. At some point, HTC will confirm the Android Marshmallow update and update-eligible devices, but, when it does, we hope the Taiwanese manufacturer does not make more update promises that it can’t keep.
