Following numerous reports and leaks surrounding the iPhone 6S and its production status, a new report has emerged indicating that over 90 million units have been ordered for the new device.
In addition, the model is expected to feature the Force Touch technology as found in the Apple Watch, and that will be the stand-out feature for the model this year. The iPhone 6S could also gain a new color option in addition to the Space Gray, Gold, and Silver option currently offered, in the form of Rose-Gold, again like the Apple Watch.
Display sizes are expected to remain the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch as seen on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus respectively, with the internal hardware being bumped to 2GB of RAM and the new A9 processor.
The new devices are codenamed “N71” for the 4.7-inch model and “N66” for the 5.5-inch version according to sources familiar with the matter, indicating that once again the iPhone 6S will feature two models.
With 90 million units having been ordered for production, Apple are setting their expectations high for the device to do well and trying to avoid the situation that has become all so familiar with Apple products at launch with stock issues.
