Apple unveils 12 inch MacBook – thin as a wafer and costs $1,299

After releasing the iPad Air 2, which was regarded as the thinnest and lightest large screen product ever to be rolled out by Apple, the tech firm raises the bar yet again by unveiling its 12 inch MacBook at the Yerba Buena Center. Possessing a mass of just 2 pounds and a modicum thickness of 13.1 mm, the MacBook is 24 percent thinner than its predecessors. The 12 inch screen is able to render the 2304 x 1440p resolution and although that dense a resolution will strain the battery life of any other product, Apple states that its newly announced notebook will be able to deliver up to 9 hours of battery life thanks to Intel’s Core M processor.

The processor has been manufactured on the 14 nm process, resulting in making the notebook 30 percent more efficient that the company’s previous generation products. Assisting the thin form factor of the notebook was Apple’s switchover to incorporating a full sized keyboard that boasts the ‘butterfly mechanism’ instead of the scissor mechanism. The keyboard combines the elements of durability, comfort and aesthetics, and each key present on the 12 inch MacBook will possess its own backlighting.

Apple has also stuffed in the ‘USB-C’ port; it will be responsible for charging, data transfer, and video output purposes. The tech giant plans to use the same connectivity option in its future products. Unfortunately, the only other connectivity option that users will be receiving is a headphone jack and a USB-C type port. The notebook will be available to purchase on April 10, 2015 and will be available in silver, space grey, and stunning gold color schemes. Its starting price is $1,299 and will go up to $1,599. Additional details have been detailed below.
