Assassin’s Creed Event Set For May 12th

Ubisoft’s website is promoting a World Premiere Event on May 12th which will likely unveil the next chapter in the Assassin’s Creed saga.

Among the hints left in the website images are a pair of brass knuckles which bear the phrase “Strength Through Loyalty” and the legends “God Save the Queen” and “We Forge The Chains We Wear in Life.” The UK version of the page includes the phrase “Oppression Has To End.”

Based on the information provided it looks like the rumored Victorian England setting is accurate.  The chain forging quote is from Charles Dickens novella A Cricket on the Hearth, which was published in 1845, itself a slightly modified version of a more famous quote by Jacob Marley in Dickens 1843 story A Christmas Carol.  Perhaps Dickens himself will play a role in the story, similar to that of Leonardo da Vinci from the Assassin’s Creed II trilogy.

The Victorian Era offers many new possibilities for the series.  It will be the first game set after the Industrial Revolution which could offer new weapons and environments that have not been seen previously.

Some hints regarding the setting of the next Assassin’s Creed title.

Next week’s announcement is likely a setup for Ubisoft’s E3 presentations, which in turn will announce a game release this fall.  Since Assassin’s Creed II was released in 2009, a year has not gone by without a new AC title being coming out.  This may not be a good thing as even hardcore fans of the series have to admit that last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Unity, could have used some more time to bake.

All details will be released May 12th at 9AM PDT/12PM EDT. Fans who RSVP for the event online are being offered an “exclusive fan pack.”
