BlackBerry Priv pre-orders to open this Friday at company website

What’s got dual-curved edges, is black, sleek, and Android all over? If you guessed Samsung’s Galaxy S6 edge, you’d be wrong; instead, the device is called the BlackBerry Priv. After spec leaks, photo leaks, tracing the device in Toronto, and hearing something of an official announcement from BlackBerry CEO John Chen, the BlackBerry Priv is headed to the pre-order stage.

According to Canadian tech site MobileSyrup, the Canadian company has confirmed that it will host BlackBerry Priv pre-orders at blackberry.com this Friday, October 23rd. Interested customers who order the BlackBerry Priv can expect to get a 5.4-inch dual-curved display, a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage, a 5MP front camera, 18MP back camera, a 3,410mAh battery, running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. For those who want to undergo a two-year Share Everything Plan, you’re looking at $399.99 down; buying the BlackBerry Priv outright will cost you $799.99.

The BlackBerry Priv is said to be headed to US carriers AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile next month (November), but we’re still waiting to see what the device will cost. If the off-contract price is $800, most US customers will pay $33 or so a month for the device. Contract customers will likely see a price of $250-$300 down with a two-year agreement.
