Galaxy S8 will have dual lens camera setup

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have been out on the market for nearly 4 months now, and the Galaxy Note 7 edge (as evidence says) will be the upcoming handset. We’ve seen little tangible evidence of what the next Note will bring (though leaks always pop up some weeks before the official announcement), but already, the rumor mill is starting to churn regarding what Samsung will bring to the table in the Galaxy S8 next year.

Sure, many tech enthusiasts start postulating with what we already know about the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. We can be assured that the Galaxy S8 will sport a 5.1-inch display most likely, with the Galaxy S8 edge sporting a 5.5-inch display, and we know that it could have the same Quad HD panel we’ve seen on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The source is telling us though that Samsung intends to bring an Ultra HD (or 4K) display to the table in the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge. Some believe that a screen with such a high resolution is useless when it comes to the mobile experience (and that it simply drains battery), but VR content mandates an increase in display resolutions since current Quad HD displays still leave much to be desired.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 edge will, in addition to 4K displays, also feature the new tech trend of the dual-lens camera setup. The LG G5 has a dual-lens camera setup (see our LG G5 review to read all about it), alongside of Huawei’s P9 as well. Samsung did not incorporate a dual-lens camera setup in the S7 and S7 edge but will look to join in on this new tech trend in its 2017 smartphone lineup. For all we know, the Galaxy Note 7 edge (the upcoming device; there’ll be no Galaxy Note 6) may just sport the feature. We’ve heard something along these lines before.

That’s all we’ve been told for now, but stay tuned to the site as we continue to cover Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 edge rumors. Samsung will most likely unveil the next Galaxy S smartphones at Mobile World Congress 2017 near the end of February 2017 and give them a March 2017 launch.
