OnePlus 3 appears at OppoMart, ruins flash sale

We’ve seen OnePlus smartphones of the past (the OnePlus 1 and OnePlus 2) leak via OppoMart, who seems to have a track record with these devices before the rest of the world gets ahold of them, but it seems as though the OnePlus 3 flash sale has just been ruined. A new look at the online retailer shows the device, in full metal unibody fashion, with the expected specs for the device that can’t be denied.

OppoMart shows the metal OnePlus 3, together with the spec sheet that we’ve provided here at Aptgadget quite a few times. The quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is said to have four cores clocked in at 2.15Ghz, with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 32GB/64GB/128GB storage models, 8MP front camera and 16MP back camera, fingerprint sensor support, and 4GB and 6GB RAM options. All this matches what we’ve heard about the device. The metal unibody leaked through the TENAA, and since most high-end Android handsets are packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, we’re not surprised to see the OnePlus 3 follow the same trail.

The price at OppoMart for the OnePlus 3 is $369, which is about $20 more expensive than previous rumors. Still, we believe that OnePlus could stick with a price tag of somewhere between $349 and $425 for all four variants of its upcoming smartphone that differ in RAM and storage configurations. OnePlus is still debating the price of its smartphone variants, though, so even this is more of a placeholder than anything else (probably based on the pricing from last year; as the price changes, OppoMart will change its price here, too). When you’ve been in the tech business as long as I have, these types of placeholders don’t surprise you; even I can take a guess at standard specs for smartphones now and get them right 80-90% of the time (at least).

OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 3 on June 14th at 12:30PM EST, and the company is allowing its diehard fans to purchase the device in VR this year (as opposed to just watching the announcement in VR like last year). Those who pre-order the handset in the June 6th flash sale won’t see their devices ship until June 14th (the day of the announcement), but at least you can get a feel for what it looks like here. Of course, seeing the display (without seeing the screen on) isn’t exactly a giveaway; what software the device will run and how will this year’s IPS LCD screen appear on the device are matters of mystery until you get the device in hand and turn the screen on.
