Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus to feature A9 processor and 12 MP rear camera
It’s hard to believe it’s already that time again but the tech world is once again in a tizzy; buzzing with rumors of the latest offering from Apple. Apple scored a huge win with the iPhone 6 and 6 plus, giving fans the large displays they had been clamoring for. They are hoping to replicate that success with the release of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus!
It’s being reported by various sources that the iPhone 6S duo are going to feature hardware specifications that will undoubtedly surpass the capabilities of either the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. The device will be armed with Apple A9 (which will probably be manufactured using Samsun’s 14 nm FinFET process) which is expected to result in greater performance and energy efficiency compared to A8X, which made short work of NVIDIA Tegra K1 Denver.
Each of the new devices will feature what’s being dubbed “Force Touch” tech. Force Touch allows the display to determine how hard the user is touching the screen of the mobile device which can have various applications. Additionally, both smartphones will also feature 2 GB of LPDD4 memory and a powerful 12 MP rear camera sensor. Details on whether Sony, OmniVision or Samsung is going to provide Apple with camera sensors was not mentioned.
Furthermore, in order to prevent another series of episodes concerning bendgate, the iPhone 6S duo will incorporate “7000 Series” aluminum, which will make the chassis of 60 percent stronger compared to the current generation. Both smartphones are expected to run iOS 9, which will be more focused on improving overall performance rather than the introduction of new features. Pricing details were not revealed but Apple will most likely stay in the same range as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
All this information comes from KGI Securities analyst and noted Apple Insider Ming-Chi Kuo, who has a sterling reputation and an impressive track record. Kuo spoke privately to a group of investors recently and outlined what he thought would be key features of the new device. This information was released to the public when Apple Insider managed to to get a copy of Kuo’s key talking points.
Reports suggest that the iPhone 6S duo will sell around 80-90 million units by the end of 2015. Mass production is expected to start in August.
