How to fix “This message has not been downloaded from the server” error on iPhone and iPad

Some iOS users have reported that when they try to view MS exchange emails they get an error message that says “This message has not been downloaded from the server” and the full email doesn’t download. Only the headers of all the emails in the inbox are downloaded, but the content of the emails is downloaded from the server when you try to read the email. Once you open Outlook in your desktop computer, it will start to download all new messages right away and will remove them from the server. Here we will take a look at the methods that you can use to get the issue solved.

Method 1

The first solution that you can try is to use IMAP instead of POP and then you can uncheck the removed messages. Using IMAP instead of POP on both the iOS device and Mac cab help to fix the issue. You also need to uncheck remove messages after downloading option on Mac.

Method 2

The next option that can help in this case is to click the forward option. You can try to see the email. If the full content is not displayed, you can click “Forward” option and the app will ask if you want to download the rest of the messages first. You need to select Yes here. You will see the message quoted in the forward.

Method 3

Another option is to use Microsoft Outlook for iOS. The iOS app can be installed on your iPad or iPhone, and on the iOS devices used by the people you are exchanging emails with. It is advisable to try to store full emails and only recent emails. Email storage and email downloading time is not doubled.

Method 4

Using Fetch data is another way to solve the issue. Just go to Settings on your iOS device, then Mail, select push under the fetch data. Go to Advance and select fetch for all email accounts. Then restart the iOS device.

Alternatively, you can restart the mail app, or use 3G/4G networks to download email attachments.
