Reserva el Acer Chromebook R13 por $399

A new Chromebook is in town! Yep, it’s the Acer Chromebook R13.

The Acer Chromebook R13 features a 13.3-inch IPS LCD panel with a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080p screen resolution, a MediaTek MT8173C quad-core processor, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 16/32/64GB of internal storage, 1 HDMI port, 2 USB Type-C charging ports, and 12 hours of battery life.

The Acer Chromebook R13 differs from the Luxury Gold Acer Chromebook 14 that was finally made available from the manufacturer just last month after a five-month wait. Whereas the Luxury Gold Chromebook 14 features an Intel Celeron N3160 processor, the new Chromebook R13 features a MediaTek processor. MediaTek is a famous chipset maker in China that is getting international renown for its SoCs that can outperform Qualcomm’s Snapdragon series. A number of OEMs are looking to do away with Intel processors in computers and look to other manufacturers that are familiar with mobile and provide great SoCs for budget-friendly prices. The pre-order price of the Acer Chromebook R13 is $399, which means that the MediaTek SoC is designed here to keep prices low. In fact, MediaTek often charges less for its processors than most manufacturers. Since MediaTek doesn’t charge as much, Acer can keep prices low here so that Chromebooks remain affordable.

The Chromebook R13 also has a touchscreen, and this is important to remember because, like the Acer Chromebook 11, this device is also a tablet and laptop in one that can detach the screen for a tablet experience and then re-attach it for a laptop experience. In other words, it’s a two-in-one hybrid device. This explains the mobile chipset and the specs that went into making this similar to a smartphone in terms of MediaTek SoCs and 4GB of RAM.

In any case, the Acer Chromebook R13 is available for pre-order from PC Connection, B&H Photo, and Provantage. Make sure you don’t wait if you’ve been dying for a new all-in-one device. You can always pick up the Luxury Gold Chromebook 14 linked to in this post. After all, both are made by Acer, and we’re sure Acer won’t mind which one you choose.
